Appendix C: Density Altitude Calculation
To determine density altitude:
- Set the aircraft’s altimeter to 29.92 inHg. The altimeter will indicate pressure altitude.
- Read the OAT.
- Mark the intersection of pressure altitude (diagonal) and temperature (vertical) lines on Figure C-1.
- Read the density altitude from the horizontal lines on Figure C-1.
